Michael’s Seafood is a direct importer, processor and distributor of gourmet seafood products from around the world. Needless to say, we are particular about our fish. With our eyes and ears focused on the global market, we are able to offer the finest fish available.

OUR FISH IS KOSHER
All of our salmon and herring products have been certified kosher. That means that every aspect of the production process, from processing the catch to smoking the fish or preparing the herring, meets the high standards set by kosher law.

Our facility complies with all regulations set forth by the USFDA, HACCP, GMP and the Food Security Threats.

STORING, SERVING, AND SAFE HANDLING
There are a few common sense rules to follow with fish:

1. Refrigerated, unopened, vacuum-packaged smoked fish should be consumed within 14 days of purchase.

2. Once opened, vacuum-packed fish should be consumed within 7 days.

3. Vacuum-packed smoked fish can be frozen for up to one month. To thaw, place in the refrigerator overnight.

4. Use common sense rules when handling smoked fish, using clean hands and utensils when serving.

5. Do not allow smoked fish to stay at room temperature longer than 3 hours.

THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF EATING SALMON AND HERRING
Research has shown that adding fish to your diet contributes positive benefits to your health and well-being. Fish is high in protein, low in saturated fats, and is an excellent source of B vitamins and zinc. Perhaps the best attribute of fish is that it contains omega-3, which is beneficial to your heart health. The American Heart Association recommends at least two servings of fish per week, and salmon and herring are amongst the most beneficial choices.
